Several years ago, Michelle Obama participated in her first ‘College Signing Day,’ an event that celebrates recent high school graduates who will be continuing their higher studies, notes the Huffington Post.
Even though she is no longer the first lady, she will be continuing her involvement with the higher education initiative.
Michelle has signed on to attend the ‘College Signing Day,’ gathering slated for May 5 at New York City’s Public Theater.
In a video address announcing her involvement, Michelle said, “One of the greatest honors of my life was serving as your first lady, and one of my greatest joys is hearing the stories of young people like you pursuing your dreams through education…You are working to create a life that you can be proud of and I want you to know that I’m rooting for you every step of the way. Trust me, you’ve got this.”
The festivities will be livestreamed on MTV’s Facebook page and involve numerous celebrities including Nick Cannon, Zoe Kravitz, and Neil Patrick Harris.
The Hill notes that "the former first lady hosted the event in Harlem in New York City in 2016, Detroit in 2015 and in San Antonio, Texas in 2014."
