Joss Whedon is ready to tackle another superhero film. This time, Whedon will give Batgirl a chance to shine in a standalone film. Whedon is nearing a deal with Warner Bros. to write, direct, and produce the movie for the DC Extended Universe. Batgirl (aka Barbara Gordon) first appeared in D.C comic books in the 1960s and has been one of the most popular female superheroes in the world. This would be the first solo movie for the fictional heroine and the second DC film to have a female lead, right after ‘Wonder Woman.’ Whedon is known for his superhero movies and strong female characters like ‘The Avengers’ and ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer.’
