The world has many millionaires and billionaires, but, as of yet, no individual has hit the trillion-dollar mark.
On Sunday, billionaire Mark Cuban offered insights into which industry is most likely to yield the first ones.
CNBC notes that in an address given at Austin’s South by Southwest festival, Cuban predicted, “I'm telling you, the world's first trillionaires are going to come from somebody who masters AI and all its derivatives and applies it in ways we never thought of."
He also noted that in the not-so-far future many industries will see further declines in the need for human labor.
As such, he commented, “I would not want to be a CPA right now. I would not want to be an accountant right now. I would rather be a philosophy major."
Cuban added, “Knowing how to critically think and assess them from a global perspective...is going to be more valuable than what we see as exciting careers today which might be programming or CPA or those types of things.”
He further suggested that the U.S. should get very serious about finding alternative employment paths for workers likely to be replaced by automation and AI.
