UN: World faces largest humanitarian crisis since 1945

The world is facing the largest humanitarian crisis since 1945, according to the humanitarian coordinator Stephen O'Brien. More than 20 million people are at risk of starvation, in four countries in Africa and the Middle East. "Without collective and coordinated global efforts, people will simply starve to death," O'Brien told the U.N. Security Council. O'Brien noted that one thing all of the at-risk countries have in common is conflict. Since January, he pointed out that in Yemen alone 3 million more people face starvation and famine.
