VICTORVILLE, CALIFORNIA — A loyal pet owner near San Bernardino was robbed of his new puppy after a dog heist that just kept on going. A 90-second video of the incident shot by a motorist following behind was uploaded to Facebook, and shows just how determined the man was to hang on to his pooch.

Police say on February 23, the victim was walking his 2-month-old puppy near his apartment complex when a car drove up next to him and a man snatched the dog. When the victim reached into the car to try to retrieve his pet, the driver then rolled the window up. Not willing to let go, the man held on as the thief drove recklessly through the city streets. The driver sped up as he was turning a corner to lose him, but the man would not give in, even swinging his legs off the ground to keep his feet from scraping against the pavement.

The ordeal went on for several minutes until witnesses say the driver rolled his window down and let the man go, before again speeding away. An ambulance was called to take him to the hospital, and it’s clear the man suffered badly.

Police are searching for a dark-colored Ford Fusion driven by a black adult male with a ponytail. The current whereabouts of the puppy remain unknown.
