PITTSBURGH, PENNSYLVANIA — A video showing a group of college students in Pittsburgh getting rid of a rat without a mousetrap has been shared more than 120,000 times on Twitter.
Duquesne University student Jody Mackin and her roommates hatched an elaborate plot to kick the rat out of their house without killing it.
The women sealed off all escape routes with the exception of the front door and after coaxing the rat out of their bathroom used mops and brooms to knock it downstairs and then bat it out the front door.
Mackin recorded the incident and posted about the ordeal on Twitter with the caption: “We came up with this ridiculous plan to get this rat out of our house and IT ACTUALLY WORKED!!!! BYE B****.”
The video has since been retweeted more than 120,000 times and favorited more than 200,000 times.
Mackin told Buzzfeed they caught another rat in a trap last year. But this time they wanted to try to free the rodent without killing it.
