At least four skiers have been killed in an avalanche in Tignes in the French Alps. The avalanche struck at around 11am CET in the off-piste area of Tovière.
The wall of snow is reported to have stretched 400 meters across.

Emergency services say nine people have been swept away and authorities confirm it may take sometime to locate the others who are believed to be buried in the snow.
The skiers were exploring off-piste accompanied by a guide.
