Conway: Russia Sanctions 'Under Consideration'

In a recent interview with Fox News, when White House counselor Kellyanne Conway was asked if President Trump would be talking about U.S. sanctions on Russia during his forthcoming phone conversation with Russia’s President Vladimir Putin, she said, “All of that is under consideration.”

Kellyanne Conway has suggested that President Trump could be open to repealing sanctions against Russia.
The White House counselor made the comment on Fox News Friday morning when one of the hosts asked if sanctions would be discussed during Trump’s forthcoming call with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Saturday.
She said, “All of that is under consideration."
Conway then added, in part, “If Vladimir Putin wants to join with the U.S. to have a serious conversation about how to defeat radical Islamic terrorism...then we are listening. "
After she was asked if Russia had to change its behavior to have the sanctions lifted, she said, “Well, you know what the president has said, ‘It’s America First’ and that includes in his foreign policy and his national security moves, so, yes, he will call out other nations when he believes is not in the American interest and...in the interest of humanity, but that’s what these conversations are
President Trump has previously indicated that he would not be opposed to removing the sanctions.
During a January 13 interview with the Wall Street Journal, he said, “If you get along and if Russia is really helping us, why would anybody have sanctions if somebody's doing some really great things?”
However, Trump did say that after he takes office, he would likely keep them, in his words, “at least for a period of time.”
Late last year, President Obama announced sanctions against Russia in response to alleged interference in the U.S. election.
