The Black Crowes était un groupe de rock américain. Il fut fondé en 1989 à Atlanta, en Georgie et dissout en 2015.
Leur rock sudiste est très fortement influencé par des pionniers tels que The Allman Brothers Band et Lynyrd Skynyrd, mais aussi largement ancré dans la musique des Faces, de groupes des années 1960-1970 tels que les Rolling Stones (période Mick Taylor) ou bien encore Led Zeppelin. Leurs influences se dirigent aussi vers les The Velvet Underground dont ils feront quelques reprises comme celle de la chanson Oh! Sweet Nuthin, mais qui se rapprochera malgré tout encore une fois du style sudiste.

The band was signed to Def American Recordings in 1989 by producer George Drakoulias and released their debut album, Shake Your Money Maker, the following year. The follow-up, The Southern Harmony and Musical Companion, reached the top of the Billboard 200 in 1992.
After a hiatus between 2002 and 2005, the band released Warpaint, which hit number 5 on the Billboard chart. After the release of a greatest hits/acoustic double album Croweology in August 2010, the band started a 20th anniversary tour that was followed by an ongoing second hiatus. The band announced that they would return in early 2013 but that December they returned to hiatus status with no specific return date. They announced their break-up in 2015.
