00:00:00They say that most people will die from accidents, sickness, even loneliness, but I think they're wrong.
00:00:13From the day we're born, we're being watched, we're being helped to the point where we can run around and play without a care in the world.
00:00:36But if we're lucky, we get to do the things that most people only dream of.
00:00:58We get to be a bit older, and then sickness and heartbreak strikes us down.
00:01:07If you, me, are strong enough, we may live a long, productive and healthy life.
00:01:17Till someone has to help us eat and even get dressed.
00:01:23Some of us
00:01:51have to walk the road alone.
00:02:06Some of us get to shine on the biggest stages, dive from the plane and parachute to the ground.
00:02:34Then, in the blink of an eye, we die.
00:02:43Some will cry. Some will mourn. Others will wish they could have, should have, done more.
00:03:13Then you're laid to rest, covered up in the earth forever.
00:03:30It's too late.
00:03:34Some of us are left feeling sad and alone.
00:03:41But it's the regrets and the fear of the unknown that will kill most.
00:03:50It's the fear.
00:03:53It's the fear.
00:04:23It's the fear.
00:04:53It's the fear.
00:04:56It's the fear.
00:04:59It's the fear.
00:05:02It's the fear.
00:05:05It's the fear.
00:05:08It's the fear.
00:05:11It's the fear.
00:05:14It's the fear.
00:05:17It's the fear.
00:05:20It's the fear.
00:05:23It's the fear.
00:05:26It's the fear.
00:05:48Spirits.
00:05:50Ghosts.
00:05:52Dubbies.
00:05:55They're real.
00:05:58They've always been here.
00:06:01Everywhere.
00:06:04Most people see them, but don't believe it.
00:06:08They don't believe in their existence.
00:06:22My name is Will Brown.
00:06:24I'm a certified life coach.
00:06:27I'm a financial consultant.
00:06:29And I'm a father.
00:06:31And a friend.
00:06:33Most recently I became involved in the supernatural.
00:06:51When someone complains about spiritual encounters,
00:06:58my job is not to go there in the spirit of the Lord.
00:07:02Like the priest would say,
00:07:04the spirit of the Lord compels you to get out of here.
00:07:07That's not what it's about.
00:07:10I'm just trying to find the truth.
00:07:12And that's someone basically that goes to check it out
00:07:15and find out if this is real or not.
00:07:28A friend of mine who's a contractor called me recently.
00:07:31He was on a job and he says while he was there,
00:07:35late at night and by himself,
00:07:38he kept hearing noises in the house
00:07:41and thought maybe the house was haunted.
00:07:44So he said I should come up and check it out.
00:07:48And I did.
00:08:44βͺβͺβͺ
00:08:54βͺβͺβͺ
00:09:04βͺβͺβͺ
00:09:14βͺβͺβͺ
00:09:24βͺβͺβͺ
00:09:34βͺβͺβͺ
00:09:44βͺβͺβͺ
00:09:52So at the end of the day,
00:09:54I concluded that this one is a nice house,
00:09:58but not occupied by a ghost.
00:10:06And that's where we left it.
00:10:09That reoccurring dream you chalk up to be,
00:10:14it's the spirit of the night,
00:10:17the doppy man haunting.
00:10:21βͺβͺβͺ
00:10:31βͺβͺβͺ
00:10:41βͺβͺβͺ
00:10:51βͺβͺβͺ
00:11:01βͺβͺβͺ
00:11:11βͺβͺβͺ
00:11:21βͺβͺβͺ
00:11:31βͺβͺβͺ
00:11:41βͺβͺβͺ
00:11:51βͺβͺβͺ
00:12:02Chris!
00:12:06Still running, eh?
00:12:10Yeah.
00:12:12Just a dream.
00:12:15Still running.
00:12:17Not long ago, I was introduced to my most recent clients,
00:12:21Chris and Tammy.
00:12:23Her friends affectionately call her Jenna.
00:12:26They were having difficulties in their relationship.
00:12:29Typically, though, I don't usually take on cases
00:12:32that involves non-financial affairs.
00:12:38However, I made an exception.
00:12:41Chris was complaining that Tammy's night terrors
00:12:46were destroying their relationship.
00:12:49Tammy explained to me that in her dreams,
00:12:52every night, she was visited by some sort of force.
00:12:59And this happened every single night
00:13:02whenever she fell asleep and dreamt.
00:13:06So Tammy told me that in her dreams,
00:13:10she was running hysterically down the roads,
00:13:14and it was affecting the way that they functioned as a couple.
00:13:19Couldn't get no sleep, can't function at work properly.
00:13:23And she tells me that she spoke to some friends,
00:13:28and they tell her that it seemed like
00:13:31she's been haunted by the dumping man.
00:13:34I decided to take the case on for Chris and Tammy,
00:13:37and I really wanted to help them,
00:13:39mainly because they were referred.
00:13:42So we met several times over a period of time,
00:13:48and had coaching sessions,
00:13:51and it seemed like, you know, we were making some good progress.
00:13:56And then they stopped.
00:14:02Adopi is a supernatural spirit.
00:14:08It's very popular in Jamaican culture.
00:14:15In fact, Adopi is a Patois word.
00:14:18Patois is a Jamaican dialect.
00:14:21It's a Patois word meaning ghost or spirit.
00:14:27You know, it's a very popular term in that culture
00:14:31where, you know, people say, you know,
00:14:34you've been haunted by the dumping man
00:14:36or the dumping man is coming to get you.
00:14:38Her friends are telling her that that's what's happening to her.
00:14:42And so Adopi, based on my research,
00:14:45is a supernatural, malevolent, angry spirit
00:14:49that tends to haunt places, things,
00:14:54nightmares, you know, your dreams.
00:14:57And that seems like what was happening to Tammy.
00:15:06Jenna, where's the camera?
00:15:08It's in the bottom.
00:15:12Okay.
00:15:29Hey, how's it going?
00:15:31Jamaica.
00:15:32Yes.
00:15:33It's time for some.
00:15:34Hey, bro, what's going on, man?
00:15:35Ah, nothing.
00:15:36Hey, let's go.
00:15:37The cab's running, though.
00:15:38Where's Jenna?
00:15:39Jenna, I don't know.
00:15:40She's in the room.
00:15:41How are you?
00:15:42It was good to see you again.
00:15:44So good to see you.
00:15:45You ready?
00:15:46Yeah, let's go.
00:15:47Let's go.
00:15:48Let's go.
00:15:49On the way, on the way.
00:15:50Come on, come on.
00:15:51They had gone to the islands, Jamaica,
00:15:54to a destination wedding.
00:15:58And according to their family, they never came back.
00:16:12I decided to check into the whereabouts of Chris and Tammy
00:16:17because they never came back after they went to Jamaica.
00:16:21I went to speak to some of their family members.
00:16:24I also reached out to the bride and groom,
00:16:27that the people that got married,
00:16:29and they said that, in fact, they were,
00:16:33Chris and Tammy were married.
00:16:35They were married.
00:16:37They said that, in fact, they were,
00:16:40Chris and Tammy were invited to the wedding,
00:16:43but they never showed up.
00:16:45Junior, Chris and Jenna were supposed to come to your wedding.
00:16:53Is that correct?
00:16:54Yeah, they were supposed to show up at the wedding.
00:16:56They were invited, but they didn't show up.
00:16:59We have a way to make everything right.
00:17:04What we're kind of concerned is we haven't heard from them
00:17:06since before the wedding,
00:17:08so we're definitely going to try and reach out to them again
00:17:10and see if we can find out what happened.
00:17:12They were supposed to meet with this friend in Kingston
00:17:14with another couple.
00:17:16I found a friend, his name's Jamal,
00:17:18and he told me that, yes, he did meet up with them.
00:17:22They decided to take a quick trip into the countryside,
00:17:26and they had two different cars, finally,
00:17:29so he drove ahead, gave them instructions.
00:17:32It was getting late in the night when he said
00:17:35he got an urgent, quick, frantic, frantic,
00:17:38cracked up phone call saying that they were having car trouble,
00:17:42and that was the last that he ever heard of.
00:17:56βͺβͺ
00:18:06βͺβͺ
00:18:16βͺβͺ
00:18:26βͺβͺ
00:18:36βͺβͺ
00:18:46βͺβͺ
00:18:56Chris!
00:18:58Chris, where are you?
00:19:03Chris!
00:19:08Oh, my God, Chris!
00:19:14Yo, Chris, this isn't a joke, man!
00:19:17βͺβͺ
00:19:27βͺβͺ
00:19:37Chris!
00:19:39βͺβͺ
00:19:49βͺβͺ
00:19:59He seems to think that they were taken by the dumpy man
00:20:04and he said to me, if I didn't believe it,
00:20:07I should come check it out for myself.
00:20:09So I did.
00:20:11I packed my bags, booked my tickets,
00:20:14and headed to Jamaica to search for the dumpy man.
00:20:19βͺβͺ
00:20:27I'm on my way to Jamaica to find the dumpy man.
00:20:33I'm in the boarding lounge at the airport waiting to board the plane.
00:20:39Wish me luck.
00:20:41βͺβͺ
00:20:45You know, being on the plane feels so unreal.
00:20:51I've never actually traveled to a foreign country
00:20:56to look for anything other than relatives.
00:21:01But today is a day we're going to go
00:21:04and look for the supernatural, the dumpy man.
00:21:09βͺβͺ
00:21:16I landed in Jamaica, and the very minute that I got off the plane,
00:21:21the first thing that hit me was the extreme heat.
00:21:25βͺβͺ
00:21:29Here I am in Jamaica, day one,
00:21:32and I'm at my niece's house,
00:21:35and we're about to go on the road
00:21:39to see what we can find
00:21:42and talk to some people about our dumpy story.
00:21:46It's a beautiful place. What a beautiful day, man.
00:21:49Holy crap. Paradise is truly paradise.
00:21:53I remember when I was a kid, and they used to,
00:21:57my parents, they used to tell a story about the dumpy.
00:22:02And the reason for the dumpy, as I come to understand it now,
00:22:08is that they use the dumpy stories to scare kids into behaving.
00:22:14But I have never seen a dumpy,
00:22:17and lots of people say they've seen the dumpy,
00:22:20but I have never seen this dumpy, man.
00:22:23I have no idea what this dumpy looks like,
00:22:27but some kind of a ghost.
00:22:30So as a man and, you know, I grow up,
00:22:36I thought to myself, it's a good idea to see
00:22:42and find out who this dumpy is and where this dumpy is
00:22:46and what this dumpy is and, you know, all kinds of stuff.
00:22:51So I'm looking for the dumpy.
00:22:55You know where the dumpy them there?
00:22:57I've never seen one.
00:22:59You've never seen one, eh? Me either.
00:23:01Me either, but I'm looking for him.
00:23:03Maybe he's up in this tree.
00:23:05He might win an award.
00:23:07He's taking a picture.
00:23:09Eh?
00:23:10He's taking a picture. He might win an award.
00:23:12I don't know, eh?
00:23:14Eh, who knows?
00:23:17Everybody talk about dumpy,
00:23:19but it's hard to find someone who actually can prove
00:23:23that they've seen one of these dumpies.
00:23:26I guess it's the same thing with aliens, eh?
00:23:29I always wonder, how come all the people, you know,
00:23:34that you see on TV talking about how they've seen an alien
00:23:39or been abducted by aliens,
00:23:41how come they're always white
00:23:43and they're always Southern Americans?
00:23:46Southern white Americans.
00:23:48Do they have some sort of a special beacon
00:23:52that attracts these aliens?
00:23:55What is so special about you
00:23:57that all these aliens are always trying to abduct you, man?
00:24:01Like, seriously.
00:24:04I'm just getting shots of different things, that's all.
00:24:07I have nothing to do with you guys.
00:24:11Huh?
00:24:15Eh?
00:24:20No, I'm taking a...
00:24:21No, no, that's not what...
00:24:22You see that little outlet?
00:24:24I'm making a film.
00:24:26It's called Dumpy.
00:24:27So I'm just trying to catch a bunch of different shots.
00:24:30It's not even about people at all.
00:24:32Where is the dumpy?
00:24:33I'm looking for the dumpy.
00:24:34So the dumpy is hiding in the little hole.
00:24:38Have you ever seen a dumpy?
00:24:40No, I've never seen one.
00:24:41You've never seen one?
00:24:42That's why I'm looking.
00:24:45I don't think you're going to see them in the day.
00:24:48Say that again, let me get that back.
00:24:50I don't think you're going to see the dumpy in the day.
00:24:52True that.
00:24:53It's going to come out at night.
00:24:54It's going to come out at night, yeah.
00:24:56But we're going to find somebody to do it.
00:24:58Who knows?
00:24:59Why is it that they just come out at day?
00:25:00What do you mean?
00:25:01You didn't say dumpy, no.
00:25:02I'm afraid.
00:25:03True that.
00:25:04It's going to come out at night.
00:25:06All right.
00:25:08See the helicopter.
00:25:09I searched for dumpy there.
00:25:11Maybe that's what they're looking for.
00:25:14Dumpy man, police, people in a helicopter.
00:25:18I searched for dumpy.
00:25:21Boy, these dumpys are elusive.
00:25:26You afraid of dumpy?
00:25:29Let me give you a hug, boy.
00:25:38I'm Jamal, and I am a friend of Chris.
00:25:49Started college, and I was last for a class, and I saw Chris.
00:25:55So I asked him for a direction, and he told me.
00:26:00So we were walking to my class, and he met the gang.
00:26:06So we started talking, and Chris was like, yo, you're Jamaican?
00:26:12And I was, yeah.
00:26:15And his girlfriend was like, oh, I love Bob Marley.
00:26:18Sing Bob Marley for me.
00:26:20I started singing, and from that moment, me, Chris, and the gang,
00:26:26we just became one.
00:26:27I become a part of the gang.
00:26:30So what happened?
00:26:34Well, you met up with them in Kingston, and then?
00:26:42Ah, yeah.
00:26:45Well, they always want to come to Jamaica, so they came.
00:26:51We met up in Kingston.
00:26:53I take them out, show them places, take them to Bob Marley Museum,
00:26:58and stuff like that.
00:27:00So I invited them.
00:27:03Well, I drive a two-door car, so that couldn't fit everyone,
00:27:07so they have to rent a car.
00:27:09They rent the car.
00:27:11I go move up ahead of them, and they were behind me.
00:27:17Ah.
00:27:29Nicola, so you know, you met Chris and his friends, yes?
00:27:35Yes, I did.
00:27:36I met Chris and his friends some time ago when they came down on vacation.
00:27:41I picked them up at the airport,
00:27:43and I take them to their hotel and help them to get checked in
00:27:47and see to it that they were settled.
00:27:52Nicola picked me up from the airport and we got settled.
00:27:56And from jump, we started to do our investigation.
00:28:02We ended up at the Devon house and started to look around
00:28:07and ran into a number of people.
00:28:10The strange thing is, everybody is denying the duppy.
00:28:14Like they're afraid.
00:28:16No one wants to get their picture taken.
00:28:18I wonder what they're afraid of.
00:28:21There's no legend of a duppy being here.
00:28:22There's no what?
00:28:23There's no legend of a duppy being here.
00:28:25There's no duppies here?
00:28:26Yes, there's no legend of a duppy.
00:28:27I heard of it.
00:28:29You're the first person to tell me they know.
00:28:32And all these people here are denying it, but then they wink at me.
00:28:35Looking up, it was like, it was empty forever.
00:28:38The sun was out right at night.
00:28:39There was a black spot coming towards me.
00:28:41I just stood there.
00:28:42That's the only thing I could classify as a duppy.
00:28:44And that was when I was five.
00:28:46Five, it started like that.
00:28:48Really, I don't know.
00:28:50So that was the fifth time you experienced a duppy?
00:28:53No, that was the only first and last.
00:28:55There are duppies.
00:28:57There are duppies.
00:28:59There's lots of duppies as you're traveling here.
00:29:02Yeah.
00:29:03So what do you say, no duppy here?
00:29:05I never see one.
00:29:07You never see one?
00:29:09No.
00:29:11No name duppy.
00:29:13Courses.
00:29:14Demons.
00:29:15Ghosts.
00:29:17Whatever.
00:29:18Devil.
00:29:20Demons exist.
00:29:22Yes, it is exist.
00:29:24If it's in your mind, it might exist too.
00:29:26It exists.
00:29:27It's exist.
00:29:28Yeah.
00:29:29Because they don't worship you.
00:29:30No, not worship.
00:29:31Yes, and talk about that.
00:29:32That's the reason we talk about that.
00:29:34Yeah.
00:29:36Because it's something you can't put on the path.
00:29:38Some white people shouldn't talk about.
00:29:40Right.
00:29:41Because it's something you can't do.
00:29:43You know, just like how people talk about politics and bad women.
00:29:47Bad picnic they have at the school.
00:29:50The high price for gas and the tax and everything.
00:29:54It's something you can't do.
00:29:56That's true.
00:29:57And the young people, they don't know what to do with that.
00:30:01You say hell, man.
00:30:03No, no, no.
00:30:05Mm-hmm.
00:30:06Yeah, so you have to lead the way and tell them.
00:30:09And talk about it.
00:30:10And tell them, say, hey, I'm going somewhere.
00:30:15What are you doing exactly?
00:30:20Oh, so you're fasting.
00:30:22What's fasting?
00:30:24What is the purpose of your fasting?
00:30:29So it's not enough to just open your mouth and say,
00:30:33I need you to help me with this and that.
00:30:39Yeah.
00:30:40It cannot work.
00:30:41So you're doing it because the Bible said that, right?
00:30:43Yeah.
00:30:44And can you stop that?
00:30:46Absolutely.
00:30:47But we still have to search for God.
00:30:50Because everywhere the young people say, see what I'm doing, see what I'm doing.
00:30:53I'm going to believe they are people.
00:30:55Because someone could just easily point at you and say, I don't believe.
00:30:58You know what I don't believe.
00:30:59Because we can't see it.
00:31:02Serious deal.
00:31:03Not you?
00:31:04No.
00:31:05All right, my man.
00:31:06I'm not going to do that.
00:31:08All right.
00:31:09Who are that?
00:31:10Dopey?
00:31:16We ran into many people.
00:31:20Everyone is talking about something.
00:31:22But no one is really admitting that the dopey man really exists.
00:31:28Everyone wants to talk about something else.
00:31:31But we continued our search into Kingston.
00:31:37Along the way, we can see craziness everywhere.
00:31:47Please march up against the Bureau of Standards.
00:31:53Oh my goodness.
00:31:54That's outrageous.
00:31:57Today I have the feel of Sunday.
00:32:01It's like, it's a Sunday afternoon, everybody.
00:32:04Going out?
00:32:06Going out is high speed.
00:32:09Saturdays and Sundays.
00:32:11Eh?
00:32:12Saturdays and Sundays.
00:32:14During the week now, you see couples.
00:32:17On weekends, you see families.
00:32:20Everyone together.
00:32:22Like you just meet someone or something like that.
00:32:25Yeah.
00:32:26Come on.
00:32:31Meet someone, you want to take her out.
00:32:33The first thing that comes to your mind is...
00:32:35Ice cream.
00:32:36Right?
00:32:41You want to go on a date.
00:32:43Anything.
00:32:44Take the kids out.
00:32:46Two places.
00:32:48You either go to Devon or you go to Emancipation Park.
00:32:52Emancipation Park?
00:32:54Yep.
00:32:55Where is that?
00:33:05This here is the Mandela Park.
00:33:07Oh, Mandela.
00:33:09Has Mandela ever been here?
00:33:11Yep, twice.
00:33:12Mandela came to Jamaica twice.
00:33:14Yeah.
00:33:22I see...
00:33:23This is going to sound weird.
00:33:25Let me turn off the camera.
00:33:32It has to be 100% about the mind.
00:33:36Because when you look at a person,
00:33:38what's going on, the way they look, you know,
00:33:41has a lot to do with...
00:33:44Yeah.
00:33:45The way they look is a direct reflection
00:33:48of what's going on in their mind.
00:33:50So if they have a diseased mind...
00:33:53After about 45 days after we meet up,
00:33:56they wanted to go to Kingston to meet up with their friend.
00:33:59He wanted to take my car into Kingston.
00:34:02So I got a rental.
00:34:05Meanwhile, on our way to the country,
00:34:07we met in some difficulties, car problems.
00:34:12A lot of stuff happened, so the car broke down.
00:34:15My friend decided that they wouldn't walk the rest of the mile
00:34:19because it wasn't that far.
00:34:21But I decided to stay with the car
00:34:23because it was a rental and it was in my name,
00:34:26so I didn't want to go with them and leave the car by the roadside
00:34:29because it was in the country and I was scared.
00:34:32Eventually, I didn't saw them from that.
00:34:35That was the last I see of them.
00:34:37I tried to call, but there wasn't any answer,
00:34:40so I suggested that they went back to Canada.
00:34:50Yeah?
00:34:52Where is this area called again?
00:34:54Downtown Kingston.
00:34:55Downtown Kingston.
00:35:00We went to downtown Kingston to see and hear and talk to people,
00:35:09but the results were nil.
00:35:12No one's willing to talk.
00:35:14So we kept going.
00:35:20But it's a beautiful place.
00:35:22It's so fast.
00:35:39This is Crossroad.
00:35:43Kingston.
00:35:44Wow, what a place, man.
00:35:46What a contrast between downtown and uptown.
00:35:51The only thing in common, it's still Kingston.
00:35:54One is fast, the other is faster.
00:35:57But the results were still the same.
00:36:00Everyone avoided us, no one was willing to talk,
00:36:03and we still didn't find the duppy man.
00:36:07So we kept going.
00:36:17This is the last stop.
00:36:24We have to find a station about 2 meters.
00:36:29Barack Obama gave it to us.
00:36:3225 meters.
00:36:46We found it.
00:37:03So that's supposed to symbolize what?
00:37:06Slaves.
00:37:08Freedom.
00:37:10Freedom from oppression.
00:37:14Freedom from the colonization.
00:37:16Freedom from...
00:37:21Angry spirits.
00:37:24Looking to God for freedom.
00:37:26Wow.
00:37:27Look over there.
00:37:28Underwear.
00:37:34When it gets too rough and tight on the inside,
00:37:37we decide to put it on the outside.
00:37:40To ease it out.
00:37:44The irony is,
00:37:46while we were busy looking for the duppy man
00:37:49in Celebration Square,
00:37:52we were busy getting...
00:37:54or they were busy towing our car.
00:37:57Go figure.
00:38:04What are you doing?
00:38:06Regardless, we got our car situation sorted out
00:38:10and went to visit the Children's Monument.
00:38:16So where are we here?
00:38:18Downtown Kingston.
00:38:20Downtown Kingston on the walk-up road.
00:38:22I don't think I'm going to go swimming there today.
00:38:41There goes the tow truck.
00:38:43They caught me before.
00:38:45And they're back trying to catch me again.
00:38:48Not going to happen twice.
00:38:58This is how I catch a lot of my shots in.
00:39:05Got a tip that
00:39:07some ghosts lived in old slave plantations
00:39:10out in the North Coast.
00:39:13So we headed out that day
00:39:16and along the way we stopped to check out
00:39:19a few more places where we thought
00:39:22we may be able to find some ghosts.
00:39:25Some duppies.
00:39:27But still nothing.
00:39:30I can't help but wonder why
00:39:33so many people try to leave this island
00:39:36paradise when it's so beautiful.
00:39:39I can't even emphasize that.
00:39:42It's so beautiful.
00:39:44But we had a job to do
00:39:47and we got on to do it
00:39:50and met these two ladies
00:39:53that had some fantastic stories.
00:39:56But still, after spending all that time
00:39:59we did not find the duppy man.
00:40:02So the last four,
00:40:04when we took place down at the sugar mill,
00:40:07I came in one morning for work
00:40:09and I was actually coming from the office
00:40:12heading under the sugar mill
00:40:15when I saw a slave man.
00:40:18It was a male person
00:40:20walking around under the sugar mill
00:40:23with his hands behind him
00:40:25and he was actually viewing some prints
00:40:28that were hanging on the wall.
00:40:30He was wearing half a pants,
00:40:33no shirt, really black man
00:40:36and he was just walking around.
00:40:40I was a tour guide here
00:40:43along with Sheridan.
00:40:46After finishing my tour,
00:40:49everybody had come around here
00:40:51so I just walked down to the sugar mill.
00:40:53Coming up, when I looked upstairs
00:40:55I saw a tall man and two ladies
00:40:58and they tied what the man was wearing.
00:41:01But I could not see the face of the man.
00:41:04So I got curious about it
00:41:07so I said to the supervisor,
00:41:09I saw three persons, a tall black man
00:41:12and two ladies tied there.
00:41:14No one was around the back with ties.
00:41:16So I said, you know, there's two entrances.
00:41:19Well, you walk that way
00:41:21and I walk up the stairs.
00:41:23So in case it is someone,
00:41:27so when you go up there, you don't see no one.
00:41:29So that was impossible
00:41:31because how far that person would go,
00:41:34maybe they would have to jump through the window.
00:41:36But when I realized it was a ghost
00:41:39and then one of my co-workers was laughing and said,
00:41:42oh, you have to eat something because the top said
00:41:45that it's an old phrase, you know, from that time.
00:41:48βͺβͺβͺ
00:41:54You have a Duffy story, don't you?
00:41:56Let me hear it now.
00:41:58Well, my Duffy story, when I was younger,
00:42:00I talk about the preacher, man.
00:42:02Mmm.
00:42:04Up in the hill there, he come home one night,
00:42:07serviced it nice, feeling good.
00:42:10He must sing.
00:42:12And he must come up to one big old guava tree.
00:42:16But earlier, some boy decided to pull a joke on him.
00:42:20So he get one white sheet.
00:42:23And when the preacher man come up,
00:42:25come up, come up, almost like the tree,
00:42:27he jump out of the tree,
00:42:29when he jump out of the tree with the white sheet over him,
00:42:32and the preacher man start...
00:42:34What do you call it?
00:42:36No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.
00:42:38Bad business there, all kind of...
00:42:41So the preacher man say,
00:42:44Get out of here, Satan!
00:43:05So, Danny, tell me about...
00:43:07I want you to tell me about the story again, Miss Matilda,
00:43:10from beginning to end.
00:43:13Well, Miss Matilda is one of the...
00:43:16My life is based around her.
00:43:19Her influence was so strong.
00:43:21Her personality was amazing.
00:43:24This was somebody that I don't think a day or a week goes by
00:43:28where somewhere along there,
00:43:30I don't think about her or mention her.
00:43:33As a matter of fact, the name Danny,
00:43:36I give credit to my grandmother.
00:43:39Big woman, small woman.
00:43:42What I remember, she was a very slender...
00:43:46Probably, I would say about 5'10".
00:43:52As a matter of fact, even today,
00:43:55every year they still honor this lady,
00:43:57and she died well over 40 years ago.
00:44:00That just goes to tell you how amazing this lady is.
00:44:03I live in Orlando,
00:44:05which is the other side of the world,
00:44:07which I hear people that don't even know who I am
00:44:11talking about this amazing lady.
00:44:13So, how was that relationship?
00:44:15Oh, man.
00:44:16As anybody know Jamaicans,
00:44:18they're not afraid to introduce a good old...
00:44:22Rhyme of correction.
00:44:24Rhyme of correction.
00:44:26Because she will beat you,
00:44:27you'll know why you got to get away.
00:44:29Yeah.
00:44:30You never kill me.
00:44:32You made me a very strong and a proud man today.
00:44:36Miss Mattie died on that bridge,
00:44:38and they found her body eventually,
00:44:41and they buried her.
00:44:42But some people say that the road is haunted,
00:44:45and her spirit is haunting the road.
00:44:47So, elaborate on that, tell me what you mean.
00:44:50As a dealer, I mean, I heard a story
00:44:52that the bridge is haunted,
00:44:54and other people are here out today,
00:44:57lost their life around that location.
00:45:00What I...
00:45:02It's very interesting, because...
00:45:06I love Duffy's stories.
00:45:07I'm not a good storyteller,
00:45:09but I love Duffy's stories.
00:45:11Why, you think she's upset, angry,
00:45:13at the road traveler?
00:45:14I believe because she could be angry,
00:45:16because they didn't let...
00:45:19A place like that, they did not take care of her.
00:45:22A little lady.
00:45:24She cannot be more than four feet tall,
00:45:26three feet and change.
00:45:27She said,
00:45:28Miss, don't worry, Miss Mattie
00:45:30will always look out for you.
00:45:32She'll be always right over your shoulder.
00:45:35So, always stay positive,
00:45:36because she will always be there looking out for you.
00:45:39And I must say,
00:45:40there are times I've done,
00:45:41I've vowed to do some dumb things,
00:45:44and it's like somebody just hold me,
00:45:46and pulled me,
00:45:47and turned me around from that event
00:45:49that was meant to,
00:45:50and I only can contribute that to Miss Mattie.
00:45:52You think the bridge is haunted and the road?
00:46:01Every month, every week,
00:46:03you see some article in the paper,
00:46:04someone said,
00:46:05don't be there,
00:46:06a haunted house.
00:46:07It's hype.
00:46:08It's hype.
00:46:09Maybe there are incidents
00:46:11that people are way up in the road.
00:46:13Maybe there is.
00:46:14Right about it.
00:46:15Right.
00:46:16Right about it, you know.
00:46:18Yeah.
00:46:19But my feeling
00:46:21is very negative on it.
00:46:23I don't believe
00:46:25that they can do what they say they're doing.
00:46:28Yeah.
00:46:29I do know,
00:46:30and believe,
00:46:31that chemically,
00:46:32people can hurt you.
00:46:34Yeah.
00:46:35But what they're talking about,
00:46:36no, no chemistry.
00:46:37You don't.
00:46:38Hey, no.
00:46:39I can tell you one time, though,
00:46:41I went to a dance one night, right,
00:46:43around,
00:46:44this was back in the 60s.
00:46:46Yeah.
00:46:47And my friend did a show,
00:46:48and it was a bicycle,
00:46:50bicycle thing to come home.
00:46:52Right.
00:46:53And man,
00:46:54I don't know why I got so scared,
00:46:55but all the scary,
00:46:56all the things that they talk about
00:46:57that wasn't certain,
00:46:58you know,
00:46:59I had to pass it to come home.
00:47:00And I rode,
00:47:02and I rode all the way home.
00:47:04I saw so many ghosts,
00:47:06which was not there.
00:47:07It's a mental thing.
00:47:08Yeah.
00:47:09And nothing happened,
00:47:11I rode home.
00:47:12Were you on drugs?
00:47:13No.
00:47:14I don't do drugs.
00:47:15No?
00:47:16Alcohol?
00:47:17No.
00:47:18But maybe it was real, though.
00:47:19No, no.
00:47:20It's a...
00:47:21It's a psychological thing.
00:47:22Yes.
00:47:23So you're saying it's just,
00:47:24these are just stories people tell.
00:47:25A mental thing.
00:47:26In that case,
00:47:27it was a mental thing.
00:47:28Yeah.
00:47:29All the same time,
00:47:30I can remember coming that night,
00:47:31that man coming home,
00:47:32you know,
00:47:33when the wind blow the canes
00:47:34and you're swerving all that.
00:47:35Yeah, right.
00:47:36Yeah, it's a little ducky and all.
00:47:37Right.
00:47:38And I got scared.
00:47:39But,
00:47:40I said to myself,
00:47:41I'm going home.
00:47:42And the only thing,
00:47:43I'm going to hold the bicycle
00:47:44and go straight,
00:47:45straight at the thing,
00:47:46whatever it is, yeah?
00:47:47Yeah.
00:47:48Straight there.
00:47:49So I built up all that defense
00:47:50and all that,
00:47:51but nothing ever happened
00:47:52because it's so...
00:47:53Oh,
00:47:54the best ever story I heard,
00:47:56that there's a river down there
00:47:58that rhymes, you know?
00:47:59Yes.
00:48:00I heard that there's a skeleton
00:48:01riding a horse.
00:48:02And when he crossed the river,
00:48:04he saw this man standing.
00:48:06And the man asked him
00:48:09if he could ride on the horse.
00:48:10Mm-hmm.
00:48:11So I said,
00:48:12okay, jump up.
00:48:13The guy jumped up behind him.
00:48:15So he started telling this man
00:48:17that,
00:48:18man,
00:48:19I heard that there's some
00:48:21duckies down here, man.
00:48:23And I have some teeth
00:48:24like these here.
00:48:26So the second person said,
00:48:28teeth like these?
00:48:35That's a good one.
00:48:39So I dubbed him up.
00:48:40Teeth like these?
00:48:43I think I fear ghosts
00:48:46because
00:48:49I went to New York about
00:48:5210 years ago.
00:48:54Mm-hmm.
00:48:55And I had a dream
00:48:56of my brother-in-law,
00:48:57my sister's husband,
00:48:59was in the hallway.
00:49:02And, you know, he was dead.
00:49:04And I said,
00:49:05I walked over and I saw him.
00:49:07I said, man, what are you doing here, man?
00:49:08And he said, it's okay.
00:49:09In my dream, you know.
00:49:11In my dream.
00:49:12And that's the general
00:49:14thing that happens
00:49:15when it comes to dreaming
00:49:16of ghosts and all that.
00:49:17Right.
00:49:18I normally scared him.
00:49:20And I normally faced him
00:49:21head on.
00:49:22Right.
00:49:23Then it was done.
00:49:24But I do have
00:49:25had that dream.
00:49:27Mm-hmm.
00:49:28Mm-hmm.
00:49:29As you can see,
00:49:30I tried to hold it down
00:49:31and all that.
00:49:32I had a dream
00:49:33where someone tried to hold it
00:49:34and try to get away.
00:49:35Absolutely.
00:49:36Oh, shit.
00:49:37Same idea.
00:49:38When you finish, you're tired, boy.
00:49:39Yes.
00:49:40But they have never
00:49:41gotten the whole point of me.
00:49:44Yeah.
00:49:46Wow.
00:49:48Where did you grow up here?
00:49:50Oh, I grew up right where
00:49:53that church you went to this morning.
00:49:55Yeah.
00:49:56Right there.
00:49:57What's that area called?
00:49:58Cornpiece.
00:49:59Corn...
00:50:00Phase.
00:50:01Phase.
00:50:02But when you turn off the main
00:50:03and go up the hill there,
00:50:04Yeah.
00:50:05that's Cornpiece.
00:50:06You know, I hate taking
00:50:07directions from Jamaicans.
00:50:08You know, they always say,
00:50:09you know what Jamaicans say,
00:50:10you got to turn left
00:50:11and go up the hill.
00:50:12Uh-huh.
00:50:13Then you go around there,
00:50:14so turn up there,
00:50:15so when you go reach there,
00:50:16so you go down
00:50:17and then you go up
00:50:18and turn around again.
00:50:19Right by the mango tree.
00:50:20Right by the mango tree.
00:50:21And after you reach there,
00:50:22so you just go up the hill
00:50:24a little bit more
00:50:25and around the corner
00:50:26and you're dead there.
00:50:27Yeah.
00:50:32This little town called
00:50:34Capri Settlement.
00:50:41Hmm?
00:50:42What's this area called, Mom?
00:50:44Why would you choose
00:50:45to eat bee vomit?
00:50:48You know, I wonder
00:50:49if the ducky,
00:50:50the ducky them love bee vomit.
00:50:52Ducky love bee vomit.
00:50:54Ducky love bee vomit.
00:50:55Yeah.
00:50:57We'll just see.
00:50:58We'll just see.
00:50:59We'll get you.
00:51:00What's the other one?
00:51:01Hmm.
00:51:02I wonder.
00:51:03Hmm.
00:51:04You think any ducky
00:51:05are going to eat this one?
00:51:06Yeah, I don't know.
00:51:07We'll find out.
00:51:09If it's around,
00:51:10we'll give it to the ducky.
00:51:12I'm protected, man.
00:51:18Hmm.
00:51:21This is a beautiful shot
00:51:22right there, bro.
00:51:26No, don't stare.
00:51:27Stay in that shot.
00:51:30Oh, the duck.
00:51:37Yeah.
00:51:43What's the area?
00:51:47Got another tip
00:51:48that some ghost entities
00:51:52were in an area called Cornpeace
00:51:54and so we headed out there
00:51:58but saw a lot of dogs,
00:52:01birds, cats,
00:52:04but no duppies.
00:52:06Even some goats,
00:52:07but still no duppies.
00:52:11So we eventually headed
00:52:13back to the city.
00:52:18Okay.
00:52:22What did they say about
00:52:23the detail for the bus
00:52:24that day from
00:52:26North?
00:52:28North.
00:52:29North.
00:52:30North.
00:52:31North.
00:52:32North.
00:52:34North.
00:52:35North.
00:52:36North.
00:52:37North.
00:52:38North.
00:52:47Where are we going?
00:52:48Clarendon.
00:52:49Country.
00:52:50Just to find a ducky.
00:52:52We're gonna have to
00:52:53obviously do that again.
00:52:55But yeah,
00:52:56here we go.
00:52:57I heard of a bridge and a stretch of road in the countryside called Miss
00:53:08Mati Bridge and I heard the path of road was haunted so we decided to head to the
00:53:18country and check out Miss Mati Bridge. Along the way basically we stopped at
00:53:26every possible nook and cranny and corner that we could find just to see if
00:53:32anybody knows anything about Miss Mati.
00:53:46I had heard about these kids that disappeared along the stretch of road
00:53:53and decided to take the same route and backtrack and you know through all the
00:53:59areas they traveled and hopefully get to the point to where they disappeared and
00:54:05and see what has happened see if we can solve that story and this is what's one
00:54:10of those places we stopped in and you know we decided to check things out
00:54:16obviously not obvious but they didn't find much.
00:54:23It's just a coincidence that our maybe-not-so-close-to-the-point-of-the-stretch-of-the-road-kids-disappeared-on-the-stretch-of-the-road-kids-disappeared-on-the-stretch-of-the-road-kids-disappeared-on-the-stretch-of-the-road-kids-disappeared-on-the-stretch-of-the-road-kids-disappeared-on-the-stretch-of-the-road-kids-disappeared-on-the-stretch-of-the-road-kids-disappeared-on-the-stretch-of-the-road-kids-disappeared-on-the-stretch-of-the-road-kids-disappeared-on-the-stretch-of-the-road-kids-disappeared
00:54:53It's not that the same area where Ms. Mati lives is the same area where we were supposed to go
00:55:02to see if we could find the document.
00:55:06I arrived at the house where Ms. Mati was supposed to live before she died and decided
00:55:28to take liberties and check the place out.
00:55:34As we were going along and walking through the place, we picked up some admirers.
00:56:04The house itself is just a house.
00:56:24There really isn't much to it, but we decided to walk around and check things out.
00:56:30It was getting kind of evening-ish and we didn't want to venture too far into anywhere,
00:56:37but we didn't find anything.
00:56:41Ms. Mati definitely wasn't home.
00:56:45But we decided to continue our search beyond the house.

00:58:45Looking for the dupee
00:58:49I'm in Brandon Hill
00:58:53This area is called Stump Hill
00:58:57I hear that there's a dupee
00:59:15Over there
00:59:45This place is so beautiful in the day, but it's creepy as heck in the night.
01:00:09I can't even see how people live there, it's like what people seem to use and they just
01:00:16are just living.
01:00:20But I just continued to search.
01:00:24I decided to continue my search, which, of course, heading towards Miss Mattie's Bridge,
01:00:45which is where the infamous incident happened.
01:00:54Miss Mattie Conner, this is where Miss Matilda Benjamin crashed over the bridge and died
01:01:10at this very spot.
01:01:15And now the whole area is haunted.
01:01:22You can feel her spirit.
01:01:25We can't stay here too long.
01:01:31This bridge was built in 1929.
01:01:35Wow.
01:01:37So long and absolutely no repairs since.
01:01:40It's a shame.
01:01:44But it's not my job to do it.
01:01:49After checking around Miss Mattie's house and the general area, I didn't find anything.
01:01:56So I decided to go back to Miss Mattie's Bridge in the dead of night.
