Richa Chadda's film Masaan was screened in the UnCertain Regard section at the 68th Cannes International Film Festival on Tuesday and so moved were the people who saw the film, that they give it a five-minute long standing ovation.

Overwhelmed by the response of the audience at the French Riviera, Richa tweeted, "Got teary at the 5 minute long standing ovation. Thank you everyone. @ghaywan, first thanks to you."

Directed by Neeraj Ghaywan, this Indo-French drama is co-produced by Manish Mundra, Macassar Productions, Anurag Kashyap's Phantom Films, Sikhya Entertainment, Arte France Cinema and Pathé Productions.

Expectation are high from Masaan, as producer Manish Mundra's last two films have received much-acclaim internationally. While his Umrika became the first Indian film to win the Audience Award at the World Cinema Dramatic Competition at the Sundance Film Festival, his Nagesh Kukunoor-directed Dhanak won the Grand Prix for the best feature-length film and also a Special Mention for the best feature film by The Children’s Jury for Generation Kplus, at the 65th Berlin International Film Festival.
