Outrage At Gingrich's Pearl Harbor Tweet: 'Japanese Displayed Professional Brilliance'

Many Twitter users have sharply criticized Newt Gingrich on his comments relating to Pearl Harbor.

On Wednesday, the nation marked the 75th anniversary of the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. Reflecting on the day, many prominent personalities shared their thoughts on social media. However, Newt Gingrich found himself facing sharp criticism after posting a series of tweets.
The first one read, "December 7 is a good day to remember that the world is dangerous and shattering surprise is possible even when we have been warned."
And in the second tweet, Gingrich said, "75 years ago the Japanese displayed professional brilliance and technological power launching surprises from Hawaii to the Philippines."
Numerous reactions followed on the latter one, such as, "Yeah! I'm sure my grandfather really appreciated that professional brilliance as thousands fought and died around him at PH," and "I really can't believe this. Walk us all through your thought process on typing this out and then pressing send on a Dec. 7th. "
One Twitter user responded, "My great-uncle died defending USA. I guess he was no match for Japan's 'professional brilliance.'"
Another said, "it's the same as calling al qaida brilliant on 9/11 anniversary. Big [thumbs down]."
The surprise attack claimed the lives of about 2,400 people and left more than 1,200 injured.
