"July's People" by the Nobel Prize winning South African author Nadine Gordimer was published in 1981. The story is set in a near future version of South Africa where Apartheid is ended through a civil war.

The book had been written before the end of apartheid. It was taken as the author's prediction how apartheid would end. However, the book was banned in South Africa right after its publication.
