President Barack Obama said he will withhold public criticism for President-elect Trump, despite ideological differences between him and his successor. The Democrat noted however, that if he feels it is "necessary" he will speak up regarding Trump's proposals. "I want to be respectful of the office and give the president-elect an opportunity to put forward his platform and his arguments without somebody popping off in every instance," Obama said at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit. Obama encouraged fellow Democrats to work alongside the Trump administration and to stay true to American values.
