The House will remain in Republican control next year, after Democrats made only modest pickups. After Sen. Pat Toomey’s win in Pennsylvania, the decision has been made. Before tonight’s election, Republicans held a 54-seat majority in the Senate. Currently Republicans hold a 53-47 majority. Democrats needed to pick up an additional four seats to regain majority control of the Senate provided Clinton won, but were unable to do so.
