Despite Its Serene Appearance, This Planet Offers Nothing But Hardship And Torture

From a distance, the planet known as HD 189733b appears to be one big serenity-filled orb, but that’s because people often look at it all wrong.

From a distance, the planet known as HD 189733 b appears to be one big serenity-filled orb, but that’s because people often look at it all wrong.

The beautiful, swirling blue exterior is not an indication of fluffy clouds and tranquil, tropical waters, as it often is here on Earth.

It’s evidence of weather nastier than any human, including Mount Everest guides, Alaskan crab fishermen, and meteorologists toiling away in Antarctica, could endure.

Winds rage at upwards of 5,000 miles an hour, which is enough strength to not only render a person airborne, but whip them around the planet a few times.

Further, it rains razor blades.

Not literally, but as the droplets are sharp and possibly solid, the resulting effect – painful lacerations and lots of them – is the same.

Remember this should the opportunity to travel to another world ever arise.

Planets, just like books and people, should never be judged on appearance alone.
