An artificial intelligence system has predicted the winner of the forthcoming U.S. presidential election to be Donald Trump.

An artificial intelligence (AI) system has predicted the winner of the forthcoming U.S. presidential election to be Donald Trump.
Some observers are paying particular attention to this forecast because the program has, according to CNBC, “correctly predicted the last three U.S. presidential elections.”
The system, called MogIA, favors those candidates who have the highest engagement in social media.
The CNBC report states that it “...takes in 20 million data points from public platforms including Google, Facebook, Twitter and YouTube in the U.S. and then analyzes the information to create predictions.”
And this year, the assessment includes new interfaces like Facebook Live streaming videos. Based on Trump's engagement levels, the system shows the businessman to be the winner.
The AI’s developer, India-based Sanjiv Rai, founder of Genic.ai, has told CNBC, “If Trump loses, it will defy the data trend for the first time in the last 12 years since Internet engagement began in full earnest.”
However, he does admit that social engagement doesn’t necessarily equate to support and that such online activity has grown since the last presidential predictions.
