We are not trying to stop earthquakes--nor would we want to in a geological sense. Plate motions will continue no matter what we do (within the limits of my imagination, at least). Of course from a human perspective, we want to reduce the risk of disaster. We can accomplish this much more easily by learning about earthquakes and how to build well and prepare for them than by trying to stop them from happening.

"Days of Rage" by Bryan Burrough (...again, fascinating, and a topic I knew nothing about)
"Etymologicon" by Mark Forsyth (I'm dipping in and out of this and it's great)
"On the Road" by Jack Kerouac (The first time I've properly read it)

Hi Dan, I was wondering your opinion on music related art like album covers or singles art. I feel like our impression of music occurs before you've even heard it, and as music trend progress, so does the artwork/photography that comes with it. As an avid music nerd myself, one if my absolute goals is to make my mark on the music world through my art. I would feel as if I have accomplished something if I were to make my way onto the pages of a cd booklet or a poster. So (rambling over), I want to know what what you think of it all, your favourite album cover or how it is associated to the music you love. (Oh, and if you ever need any artwork done for anything in the future I would be more than happy to do so)!
