A look back into the legendary life of Shimon Peres

1959: Peres was first elected to the Knesset, Israel's parliament serving almost uninterrupted until 2007.
1984: He became Prime Minister sharing the job in a rotation with Likud's Yitzhak Shamir. 1986: He worked with Yitzhak Rabin, as his Foreign Minister, to forge the first peace accord with the Palestinians and a peace accord with Jordan. 1994: Shimon won the Nobel Peace Prize together with Yitzhak Rabin and Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat. 1995: Peres became acting prime minister after Rabin assasination and was defeated by Benjamin Netanyahu six month later. 2007: He was elected president and completed his term in 2014.
