The right attitude towards the People of the Book and the others, and the adequacy of the Quran should be taught, not the traditionalist Orthodox Islamic conception

KARTAL GÖKTAN: In his article titled "I couldn't write an article about the Eid," Yeni Şafak Newspaper Columnist Kemal Öztürk wrote about certain traitors who deliberately fire missiles at Israel from Gaza for the purpose of provoking Israel to attack Gaza. "When I talk to my friends in Gaza, what I hear is how Israel bombs Gaza, and their bittersweet thanks and desperate statements. ‘There are traitors among us who deliberately fire missiles to provoke Israel to attack Gaza.' The ache in my stomach spreads to my heart upon hearing these words. What kind of mentality is this? What is happening to us?"
ADNAN OKTAR: Okay, he says that there are traitors among them. But the bigots do this based on the false hadiths saying, "Our Prophet (saas) orders us to kill women and children through night raids and you should obey his orders" and then they applaud those who do so. And their leaders praise them saying "You did well my son, you are a true warrior of Islam, may God rest the souls of your ancestors." He says, "The Jews will confront us and the rock will tell us to kill them. The tree will tell us to kill them and we will do as it says." What he speaks of is a schizophrenic mentality. And then they congratulate those who committed the murders, distributing food in celebration of their deeds on the streets of Gaza, Palestine. And you say "There are traitors among us." What traitors? There is a disaster among us. They have devastated these people through traditionalist Orthodox Islamic conception. They should be told about the adequacy of the Quran, they should be told about love, compassion and mercy; compassion towards the People of the Book, towards the Christians, the Jews, the atheists, the polytheists. Look at what God says in the verse of the Quran; "If any of the polytheists ask you for protection, give them protection. Then convey them to a place where they are safe." God says "Protect them with your lives." What these people need is a realistic and rationalistic education on Islam. Let's say that we believe you, but the truth of the matter is different.
