On July 29, a scary encounter was captured on the dascam of a police car.
According to a Facebook post by the Ohio State Highway Patrol, "a sergeant with the Chardon Post was struck by a vehicle last week during a traffic stop on U.S. Route 322 near Chardon, Ohio. Thankfully, his injuries weren’t life threatening. But dash cam video of the incident shows the dangerous nature of these crashes."
In the footage, the sergeant can be seen getting hit and carried by the vehicle for a few feet before the SUV comes to a stop. Authorities have not released the driver's identity.
The post reminds drivers that they "should move over to an adjacent lane when approaching any vehicle with flashing or rotating lights parked on the roadside, according to Ohio law. If moving over is not possible due to traffic or weather conditions, or because a second lane does not exist, motorists should slow down and proceed with caution."
