In search of the climbing phenom’s formula for success, part 2 in the 4-part series stops at the New River Gorge national park in the US. Once again on Alex’ menu – the toughest climbing routes of the world: “When push comes to shove there’s only one reason for personal failure,” says Alex self-critically: “It’s not because it was too warm, or because your fingers were taped, you only fail because you’re too weak!”. In part 2 he defies physics in 8a+ routes like The Racist or 9a routes like Superpod. “If you’re able to climb 9a routes smooth and relaxed, you might be able to climb 9b and c routes fairly easy,” says Alex. Sounds logical? Watch, as Alex makes sense of it all.
