RIVERDALE, NEW JERSEY — An officer of Riverdale police department in New Jersey heroically saved the life of a man who was attempting to jump over a bridge.

Sgt. Greg Bogert responded to a call of the sighting of a man walking on Route 287 North near exit 53 on Monday morning. After arriving the scene, Sgt. Bogert saw the man, who was obviously in distress, standing in the middle of the traffic.

The man then started running towards the concrete barrier and tried to jump off the bridge. Sgt. Bogert grabbed the man just in time to prevent him from jumping.

The man, identified as a missing person of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, was later taken to a hospital for psychological evaluation.
