Austin police detain suspect in murder of UT-Austin student

A suspect has been taken into custody by the Austin Police Department on Friday in the murder case involving University of Texas-Austin student Haruka Weiser.
Meechaiel Khalil Criner, a 17-year-old homeless male, is the sole suspect wanted in the case and surveillancefootage released by the APD was instrumental in catching him.
Police Chief Art Acevedo is "very certain" his force has apprehended the correct person.
Criner was originally recognized after being spotted riding a bike that belonged to Weiser.
