E-Cigarette Ignites On Plane Waiting To Depart Atlanta

A Delta flight waiting to depart Hartsfield–Jackson Atlanta International Airport was delayed Wednesday night due to the spontaneous combustion of an e-cigarette battery.

E-cigarettes have become a popular alternative to their tobacco counterparts, as they’re convenient, cost-effective, and presumed to present fewer health risks.

Unfortunately, their batteries spontaneously combust from time to time, as one did Wednesday night on Delta Airlines flight 689, which was waiting to depart Hartsfield–Jackson Atlanta International Airport.
