Researchers have used advanced imaging and measuring techniques to model out the way a wasp sees the world as it navigates home.

An international team of scientists has discovered how wasps see in an attempt to determine the way they navigate home, according to a study recently published in the journal Current Biology.
A summary of the findings notes, "When ground-nesting wasps leave their nests each day, they turn back toward home before flying along a series of ever-increasing arcs. While the insects gain height and distance, their attention remains focused on the nest." 
The researchers used a series of advanced measuring and video techniques over the course of a decade to model out wasp's vision and ultimately their behavior.
