TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Several explosions and shootings occurred at Jalan Thamrin, Central Jakarta on Thursday morning, January 14, 2016. Police authorities had rushed to the scene and immediately set up a perimeter.
Based on Tempo's observation, the Police had closed access to the location from Grand Indonesia. Roads close to Dukuh train station, areas around Jalan Sabang and Wahid Hasyim had also been closed for public access.
Tri Ferianto, a security guard posted at Sarinah Plaza said that areas around the explosion location have been cordoned off by the Police.
At least seven explosions were reported to occur at Jalan Thamrin, Central Jakarta. The first explosion occurred at the Starbucks Café in the Djakarta Theater building, the second explosion occurred at the Police outpost in front of Sarinah while the third is suspected to be originated from a suicide bomber close to the Police outpost. One police officer was reported dead.
