Newly-Discovered Black Hole Is Starved Of Stars

One of the two black holes at the center of a galaxy appears to be missing the stars that typically surround such black holes. Researchers are puzzled.

A recently discovered black hole appears to be deprived of stars, according to researchers at the University of Colorado Boulder.
All massive galaxies, like our Milky Way, have a supermassive black hole at their center. Such black holes typically tend to scale with the mass of the galaxy in which they reside and are usually ringed by a hefty collection of stars.
But the black hole in question, residing at the center of a galaxy that's the result of a merger between two smaller galaxies, has barely any stars at all.
