Charlie Hebdo, one year on: Who are the terrorists in Europe?

God with blood on his hands and a Kalashnikov strapped to his back: that’s the cover of French satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo for its anniversary edition, one year after gunmen ransacked its offices and killed its cartoonists. It comes with a defiant message that the paper lives on.
2015 saw France end the year much as it had started: with more gunfire and killings. This time, accomplices were found beyond French borders, Belgium went into lockdown, Germany evacuated train stations on New Year’s Eve and Europe is now questioning the very idea of free movement and whether it needs to secure its borders better.
Terrorism experts agree with the message on Charlie Hebdo, saying there is more to come... So who are the terrorists in Europe and how are European states fighting them?
