It was a handover marred in bitterness and a reminder of how politically divided Argentina is. Mauricio Macri on Thursday became the country's first non-Peronist president in 16 years, but only after the senate speaker took over the presidency for 12 hours following a spat with outgoing Christina Kirchner. Macri vowed free market reforms and a rollback of much of the Fernandez administration's spending that many economists say has brought Argentina to the brink of another financial crisis.
