The ‘polite people’ helped Crimeans to realize their right to will. During the referendum Russian military defended people in the Crimea from provocations of nationalists and they prevented the violent repression by the military on the orders of the Kiev putschists. Thus 96% of the Crimean population voted for independence from the Ukraine and for the joining together with Russia.
