Cuba: FARC Says Counterinsurgency Forces Must Be Dismantled

Colombia’s FARC guerrillas say that all counterinsurgency forces must be dismantled if the rebels themselves are to disarm. Speaking in Cuba, Pablo Catatumbo said that this includes paramilitary groups and drug gangs connected with them. He said that the possibility of a final accord and the complete transformation of the FARC are necessarily premised on dismantling the criminal, counter-insurgency bodies. These are the forces that threaten the implementation of any peace agreement, he said. Both sides involved in the peace talks have promised a final agreement within four months. teleSUR
