New Zealand’s yellow-eyed penguins are generally rare sights to behold, but this year there are even fewer of them to lay eyes upon.
Sadly, the population of the endangered species seems to have dipped to the lowest numbers in roughly 25 years.
A count being performed by the Department of Conservation is underway, but based on what workers have learned so far, there’s little hope the news will be good.
Thus far, it appears the penguin’s population has dipped significantly
