Sistemi i shëndetësisë ne Shqipëri nuk ka kapacitetet e mjaftueshme për te mbuluar me ndihme mjekësore gjithë territorin e vendit dhe është me pak i efektshmi ne te gjithë rajonin. Ky fakt është bere i ditur nga statistikat e publikuara nga "Balkan Insight", te cilat janë marre nga Organizata Botërore e Shëndetësisë, qe e rendit Shqipërinë ne vendin e fundit ne rajon. Ne këtë shkrim thuhet se Shqipëria është ende larg standardeve te kërkuara, për shkak se ka një raport prej 115 doktorësh për 100 mije banore, ndërkohë qe shifra ne nivele normale duhet te jete 330 mjeke për 100 mije qytetare, pra dyfishi i numrit aktual.
