A shootout has reportedly taken place in central Paris, resulting in several casualties, according to the local media.
Police officials also said there has also been an explosion in a bar near a Paris stadium.
Gunfire near a restaurant in the vicinity of Paris' Place de la Republique has reportedly killed 2 and injured at least seven people, according to BFMTV.
People in the vicinity reported seeing several bodies lying on the ground.
France 24 reporter at the site of the first shooting said the attack happened at the restaurant's terrace.
Dozens of shots were fired, according to witnesses who described the scene as a "nightmare", the Liberation newspaper reports.
French police union now reporting 20 dead.
It is still not clear how many of the attack sites are still active.
