CHILLICOTHE, OHIO — The body of an Ohio woman left hanging from a fence after she was brutally murdered on Monday night was initially mistaken for a Halloween decoration by neighbors, police said.
Thirty-one year old Chillicothe resident Rebecca Cade's body was discovered Tuesday hanging from a chain link fence at the end of Brownell Street.
One neighbor told reporters how she was leaving the house early Tuesday with her daughter when they noticed the body, but thought it was just a realistic doll left as a Halloween prank.
Construction contractors arriving at the site at around 8.30 a.m. eventually called the police after realizing that it was actually a dead body.
Police said they found a blood-stained rock the size of a grapefruit near the scene that they believe is the murder weapon.
Police arrested Donnie Cochenour Jr., 27, later the same day and say he has already admitted to killing Cade.
They added that the two were involved in an argument and that Cade had tried to run away but got caught on the fence. She died from blunt force trauma.
Cochenour Jr. has been charged with murder and is being held on $2 million bail in Ross County Jail.
Cade suffered from learning disabilities, which according to friends made her very easy to mislead, leaves behind a 15-month old son.
