Michaël Goldberg on Unmixing

Mist Technologies has developed a special computing technique, which we call “unmixing.” So what's unmixing about? The first thing is to figure out your favorite band. Imagine you're listening to your favorite rock band. You know there's a guitar player. You know there's a bass player, a singer, a drum player [drummer]. All those people play their own melodies all together. And the result is the music you'll hear. And you can hear that music on your stereo in your home.

Now imagine you'd like to turn off the guitar player for any reason you like. Of course that's not possible. But it will be possible soon. It's yet [already] possible with our computing technique. It just means that now we're able to extract the different musical instruments from the musical track with [a] very special computing technique.
