An Amish man in Pennsylvania has filed a federal lawsuit arguing that the photo I.D. requirement to buy a gun violates his religious beliefs which mandate that no images or likenesses be taken.
A recent lawsuit brings to the forefront two hot-button topics in the U.S.--religious freedom and the right to bear arms.
Andrew Hertzler, an active member of the Amish community in Pennsylvania, is suing the federal government for requiring a photo I.D. to buy a gun when taking a photo is against his religious beliefs.
The case was triggered on June 2nd when he went to a licensed dealer to buy a gun but was denied because his state I.D. lacked a photo which is required for firearms purchases.
