Quarry Momma and her puppies were found in a vast quarry in Los Angeles, CA. Quarry Momma is still becoming socialized and needs a forever homes. Please SHARE her story to help! AND, Every SHARE helps bring awareness about stray and abandoned dogs. Please spread the word.
May 28, 2015 –Ingrid Hurel, an animal rescuer and Adoption Coordinator at Pacific Coast Dog Rescue was tipped off about several dogs that were either abandoned or were strays in a massive Los Angeles quarry. She took PAWsitive Channel with her as she searched on foot. She set up various traps around the quarry, spoke to truckers who frequented the area and scattered dog food just so the dogs wouldn’t starve. While searching, she heard what she thought sounded like puppies.
Momma Quarry was the first to go into the trap. She was emaciated with an injured leg and clearly nursing. Now Ingrid was on the hunt to find her pups. She found them a day later and not a moment too soon. The 3-week-old pups were clearly dehydrated and in a dire state without their mother’s milk. Out of five pups, only three survived. But the three that survived thrived and all are now adopted! This amazing rescue took place in January 2015. Update: Additional dogs have also been caught, presumably Momma Quarry’s own mother and sister. The search isn’t over. There are still more dogs in the quarry and Pacific Dog Rescue needs help rescuing them.
Special thanks to Ingrid Hurel of Pacific Coast Dog Rescue. Please donate to their cause, adopt and like them on Facebook!
