Egypt is gearing up for parliamentary elections, the first since General Abdel Fattah al-Sisi came to power. A coalition of pro-Sisi parties is expected to win a majority of seats, consolidating the president's hold on power. Strict media control, ubiquitous propaganda and questionable police repression do not seem to have dented Sisi's popularity. As Egyptians look around the region at conflicts in Libya and Syria, he is credited with bringing stability.
