Impunity Reigns in Honduran Police Abuse Review

The Honduran police forces have long been accused of corruption, human rights abuses, and involvement in crime. In 2011 then president Porfirio Lobo promised a clean-up in law enforcement with four tests to be applied to police officers and applicants. Over 1,000 case files involving criminal activity have been sent to the Attorney General's office and of 16,000 officers investigated, 12,000 are accused of having abused their authority.
