Aquaponics System Built Using Local Bamboo Rafts. Rainbow trout and vegetables :)

Here we take a tour of the backyard Aquaponics system designed by Nor Cal Aquaponics for Aquabiotic Systems in Santa Cruz, California 2012. The system incorporates several Permaculture aspects including using the earth to keep the rainbow trout cool in the summer without any external energy needed. The plants are floating on top of the water on rafts made from local bamboo. A wonderful alternative to using styrofoam. All solid waste is drained directly to a worm bin where it is transformed into valuable worm casting full of micro-nutrients, minerals and healthy biology.
