Switzerland, Isolationism, & Communism in Europe (1952)

On this edition of the Longines Chronoscope, Ambassador to Switzerland Richard C. Patterson Jr. discusses Swiss foreign policy and neutrality. Patterson stresses that while the Swiss act neutrally in foreign issues, they are extremely concerned with international events. According to Patterson, Swiss neutrality has been successful thus far. For example, Switzerland did not succumb to the pressure of joining Hitler, nor does it’s legislature allow for communist influence. In support of Switzerland, Patterson’s final words urge Americans to visit an independent country with intelligent, hard working citizens.
