Venezuela: Despite Border Closing, Many Cross Legally

Despite the decision by the Venezuelan government to close some border crossings with Colombia to cut down on smuggling, paramilitary violence, and drug trafficking, many residents of the two nation freely cross into the neighboring country. Among those able to cross the border freely are students, tourists, people with illnesses, and workers who need to do so for job-related reasons. Local residents are pleased by how smoothly the policy has functioned. teleSUR
