News related story [url=A semi-truck driver is breathing a sigh of relief after he says another driver was swerving in front of him and braking intentionally trying to cause a crash on the West Loop. It happened along the Interstate 610 frontage road near the Galleria Wednesday afternoon and it was all caught on the driver’s dashboard camera. “His whole purpose is, ‘Let’s make this guy hit me,’” said David Reed. Reed says he was exiting 610 northbound at Westheimer in his 18-wheeler around 3 p.m. when a yellow convertible behind him tried unsuccessfully to merge into the lane at the same time. As soon as Reed was on the frontage road, his dashcam shows that yellow convertible driver cuts him off and slams on his brakes. Reed was able to swerve into the next lane, but seconds later the convertible driver again swerves in front of Reed and hits the brakes before speeding up then braking repeatedly. “I’m thinking. ‘I’m gonna get away from this fool, he might have a gun,’” said Reed. “So I stopped. I literally just got tired of him doing this.” That’s when the video shows the convertible driver stop, get out of the car and start walking toward Reed. “He was cussing,” Reed said. “I jumped out my truck, and I was like, ‘Hey, you come over here and say all that.’” The convertible driver then gets back in his car, crosses three lanes of traffic and speeds off through the parking lot. Reed says not only could he or the convertible driver been hurt or killed, but hazardous materials residue in his truck posed a bigger threat. “If I swerve and a car hits me, this thing could catch afire,” said Reed. “It could be a big incident right here by the Galleria.” As a former truck driver and current bus driver, Reed’s wife, Jennifer, says she knows the danger firsthand. “We don’t stop on a dime,” said Jennifer Reed. “He has something that could take out blocks. I have lives on my bus.” Reed said he is planning on contacting police. KHOU attempted to reach out to the driver at the address his car was registered to, as well as by phone, but the voicemail has not been returned. Reed ended the interview with this message to the driver. “Be more careful around 18 wheelers and trucks,” he said. “We’re on the road to do a job and to get from Point A to Point B just like you are.
