The White House recently hired its first openly transgender staffer.

The White House recently hired its first openly transgender staffer.

On Monday, Raffi Freedman-Gurspan reported for duty as the personnel office’s director of outreach and recruitment.
Prior to this, she worked at the National Center for Transgender Equality. 

White House senior advisor Valerie Jarrett said Freedman-Gurspan, "… demonstrates the kind of leadership this administration champions." 

She also lauded the new employee for, "her commitment to bettering the lives of transgender Americans, particularly transgender people of color and those in poverty..."
