Greek car sales fall while the rest of Europe grows

While the rest of Western Europe experiences a recovery in new car sales, Greece saw the number of registrations fall nearly 22 percent year on year in June.

That compares with double digit growth in Britain, Germany, France and Spain.

While official figures for Greece won’t be released until Friday, it’s thought around 6,250 new vehicles were registered in June.

Fleet renewals by car rental companies caused a 43 percent spike in registrations in April but that masks a downward trend that has seen car sales fall 74 and 78 over the past two years respectively.
