For competitors in the sport of Shooting, having the ability to remain calm and collected in high-pressure situations is essential for success. The Baku 2015 European Games will be no exception with athletes focused on winning gold across 19 medal events. These are divided into three categories, depending on the type of firearm used. In Rifle and Pistol events, competitors aim at a stationary target from a range of set distances. In the Shotgun events of Trap, Double Trap and Skeet, competitors shoot at moving clay targets launched above and in front of them. Depending on the event, athletes are required to shoot from standing, kneeling or prone positions.

At Baku 2015, Shooting will see 210 men and 120 women set their sights on gold at the new Baku Shooting Centre. The competition will include nine men’s events, six women’s events and four mixed team events, with the Shooting action beginning on 16 June and finishing on 22 June 2015. In addition to winning a gold medal, the winner in each of the 15 individual Shooting events will automatically receive a quota place for the Rio 2016 Summer Olympic Games.
