An assistant inspector privately looked into the background of his friend's partner

A 46-year-old assistant inspector from Shibuya's organized crime division of the Tokyo Metropolitan Police was brought before the public prosecutor's office on grounds that he was misusing police powers and falsifying reports in order to gain access into data from a man who his girlfriend was sleeping with. .
From December of 2012 to April 2013, the inspector had been making the fake reports in order to ask the Shibuya ward office and mobile phone companies to give him the data he needed.
The victim used to visit the Shibuya Police Station on official business all the time. In time, the inspector developed a relationship with her and they occasionally dated.
