Some random guy gets nude in Atlanta’s airport, then ends up getting a taser in his posterior
This was the scene at Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport’s Terminal A around 6:30 a.m. on Thursday.
According to Gregory Evans, who shot video of the incident while waiting for his own flight to depart, he was sipping a coffee when out of the blue, 23-year-old Derrick Weems suddenly appeared in the passenger lounge at Gate A23 in his birthday suit.
Weems was a ticketed passenger, and obviously went through the security checkpoint fully clothed, but It isn’t clear what prompted him to get stark naked.
When police confronted him, they at first tried to calm him down. But, without warning, he suddenly went completely bonkers, jumping around erratically. It was at this point they decided to use a taser pacify him.
An Atlanta police official later stated that they, quote, “used the taser gun to control the situation without a struggle, and for the safety of other passengers.”
Weems was charged with disorderly conduct and taken to Grady Memorial Hospital for a medical evaluation.
